Mauritius is set to make history as it hosts the first-ever IFMA Education Coaches Seminar, bringing together legendary Muaythai icons, global experts, and international leaders in a groundbreaking event. The seminar will take place from 19th to 22nd August 2025 at the breathtaking 7 Cascades Lodges in Henrietta, Vacoas.
Significantly, the seminar opens on August 19, coinciding with World Humanitarian Day—a global moment of reflection and unity. This symbolic alignment highlights the values at the heart of the event: solidarity, respect, and support for those who dedicate their lives to helping others. It underscores how sport can be a vehicle for humanitarian impact, transcending the arena to serve a greater good.

At the forefront of this landmark event will be Grandmaster Dr. Ajarn Chao Wattayota from Thailand—one of the most revered figures in Muaythai—alongside internationally recognized experts in sports psychology, athlete safeguarding, nutrition, anti-doping, medical care, and the business of sport. Together, they will contribute to a world-class educational experience aimed at advancing the future of Muaythai in Mauritius and across the Indian Ocean region.

Adding further prestige, the seminar will welcome the President of United Through Sports as a keynote speaker. He will address the crucial role of social values and responsibilities in sport, with a particular focus on combat sports as catalysts for inclusion, discipline, and community empowerment. The opening ceremony will also feature high-ranking Mauritian officials and dignitaries, reflecting the national commitment to sport as a driver of social change.
In a bold step towards community impact, the seminar has partnered with PILS (Prévention Information Lutte contre le Sida) to raise awareness and support the fight against HIV and stigma. This meaningful collaboration aligns with the foundational philosophy of Muaythai: a discipline rooted in respect, health, and social responsibility.

A special thank you must go to Mr. Sham Seeratam, IFMA Executive Committee Member and President of the Indian Ocean Muaythai Federation, whose vision, leadership, and tireless dedication have been instrumental in bringing this landmark event to life. His commitment has not only elevated Muaythai in Mauritius but has also set a powerful example for the entire region.
Reflecting on the importance of the seminar, IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan shared:
“Together, we have brought IFMA to new heights, and events like these show how sport can go beyond competition—it can heal, educate, and unite. I am proud to see Mauritius leading the way in this important journey.”

The Seminar 2025 is not just an educational milestone—it is a movement for transformation. With a strong focus on knowledge-sharing, innovation, and community impact, it aims to empower coaches, inspire athletes, and redefine the role of Muaythai as a tool for social change and human development.
Mauritius is ready—for a new era in sport, education, and social responsibility.
