A highly anticipated press conference was held in the heart of Bangkok to announce the details for the IFMA Youth World Championships 2024. The event took place at the iconic Siam Paragon, renowned for its state-of-the-art, 12,000 square metre exhibition and convention centre—one of Bangkok’s most prestigious venues.

Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, IFMA President, highlighted the organization’s unwavering commitment to youth, emphasizing IFMA’s mission to foster a better tomorrow through the promotion of Olympic values, as recognized by the International Olympic Committee. He underscored that the youth are central to IFMA’s vision, with a focus on safety, cultural and sporting exchanges, education, fun, and friendship.

Janice Lyn, IFMA Sports Director, provided details on what will be IFMA’s largest Youth Championships to date. The event will feature over 3,500 participants, including youth athletes, coaches, referees, judges, and support teams, all traveling to Bangkok. Competitions will include Muaythai, Wai Khru, Mae Muay, Muay Kita, and various all-abilities categories, including Para and Special Muaythai. Notably, IFMA will proudly welcome the World Youth Refugee Team, raising awareness for millions of displaced youth around the world. This inclusion reflects IFMA’s belief that while refugees have few choices, we have the responsibility to provide them with opportunities to thrive. By integrating the World Youth Refugee Team into the championships, IFMA aims to highlight the resilience and potential of these young athletes, fostering a sense of community and solidarity. This initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and the transformative power of sports in bridging cultural and social divides.

While the youth showcase their talents, the IFMA World Executive Board will convene to strategize future steps towards enhanced international recognition.

The event will also feature the Youth World Conference and the annual World Youth Gala, making it not only a competition but also a global platform for cultural exchange and development.

In terms of media coverage, Channel 9 will broadcast the event live daily in Thailand, with international coverage extending to over 200 countries via the Olympic Channel.

This year’s championships promise to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime experience for young athletes worldwide, setting new standards for future editions of the event. IFMA remains dedicated to working with the youth of the world, believing that within every young person lies the potential for greatness.
