A Day of High-Stakes Showdowns & National Pride

One of the standout matchups was the much-anticipated rematch of the IFMA 2024 World Championship semi-finals between Mohammad Mardi (UAE) and Nassim Ben Faleh (France). The impact of IFMA’s Youth Development Program was evident in an exciting clash between former World Champion from Italy, Gianluca Franzosi and the Asian Senior Champion, Ali Khodarami from Iran. In a fierce contest, Franzosi showcased his talent and advanced to the second round.

The host nation, Türkiye, made a strong statement, securing three victories on opening day, as Enes Berke Asil, Tamay Schutter, and Muhammad Bilal Okay delivered standout performances, igniting national pride.

World-Class Women’s Division & Stunning Upsets

The female athletes proved their dominance with exceptional performances from Eeva Pohto (Finland), Thannita Plenjit (Thailand), and Nguyen Thi Phuong Hau (Vietnam), setting the standard for the days to come.

Meanwhile, one of the biggest upsets of the day saw Salman Binhethlain (Saudi Arabia) eliminating the African and Moroccan Champion, shaking up the competition early on.

Global Inclusion & Muaythai’s Evolution

IFMA’s mission of worldwide inclusion was proudly displayed as emerging Muaythai nations stepped up and made their presence felt on the international stage. The diversity of competing athletes highlights the growth and expansion of the sport beyond its traditional strongholds.
