Introducing Verné Prinsloo, South Africa’s rising force in the lightweight division and the newest African champion under the World Muaythai Council.
On October 17th in Mauritius, the 60 kg Female African Title brought together two of the continent’s finest: Olga Rasoanirina of Madagascar and Verné Prinsloo of South Africa. After five intense rounds, Verné’s sharp technique, composure, and relentless drive earned her a unanimous decision victory—and with it, the crown.

Carrying her nation’s flag on an international stage brought added pressure, but the overwhelming support from South Africa played a vital role in lifting her to victory. Verné expressed heartfelt gratitude to her supporters, noting how their encouragement fueled her performance from start to finish.

With the African title now around her waist, Prinsloo will take a short recovery break before returning to training and preparing for the next challenge. One thing is certain—a bright future lies ahead for this rising South African talent.
