The 7th of August is set to be the date of one of the most anticipated bouts of the year so far as Funda Alkayis will face Monika Chochlikova for the WMC world title. Hosting this main event bout in the beautiful city of Trencin in Slovakia is MTE 11 Araver Fight Night who have worked hard through the pandemic to make this fight happen.
Monika Chochlikova, an IFMA gold medalist from Slovakia won the European championship in 2018 and has made a name for herself on the professional scene. She was also awarded the “Rising Female Star” by IFMA in 2018 due to her exceptional use of her eight limbs and is ranked number 8 in the WMC rankings.
Funda Alkayis is ranked number 3 in the WMC rankings, the champion of Turkey and an IFMA gold medalist who fights both amateur and professional muaythai, making a name for herself in Glory promotions. Funda’s continued success allowed her to be head-hunted by Nike who offered her a sponsorship deal.
This is shaping up to be the fight of the year so far with both ladies training hard ahead of the bout. The question now is who has what it takes to be crowned champion of the world? We will find out on the 7th of August.
