It is with deep respect that we at the International Federation of Muaythai Associations acknowledge the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother of Thailand, who died peacefully on 24 October 2025, aged 93.
A Life of Service
Born 12 August 1932, Her Majesty ascended to the status of Queen consort in 1950 and later honoured as Queen Mother. Over many decades she undertook a wide range of national and international roles — from championing rural development, preserving traditional Thai crafts (notably Thai silk) and environmental initiatives, to symbolising maternal care and cultural continuity for the Kingdom of Thailand.

Our Reflection at IFMA
As the global governing body for Muaythai, with strong links to Thailand — the birthplace of the sport — the passing of Queen Sirikit resonates deeply with our community. Her devotion to uplifting Thai heritage and Thai people echoes our mission to uphold the cultural origins of Muaythai, while promoting the sport’s global growth with dignity and respect.
We remember her as a figure whose compassion, stability and national pride helped shape the modern Thai identity — an identity which includes the art and practice of Muaythai.
Tribute and Condolences
- We extend our heartfelt condolences to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, the Royal Family of Thailand, the Thai people, and all whose lives were touched by Her Majesty’s work.
- IFMA will observe a moment of silence at our next gathering and invite member federations worldwide to pause in respect of Her Majesty’s legacy.
- We will honour Her Majesty in our communications and maintain the spirit of service that she exemplified — particularly in how Muaythai can contribute to social development, cultural heritage and global understanding.
Legacy for Muaythai
In the spirit of Her Majesty’s lifelong commitment to preserving Thai culture and supporting Thai communities, IFMA reaffirms:
- Our dedication to promoting Muaythai as a martial art deeply rooted in Thai tradition, while engaging respectfully with global partners.
- Our support for community-based development programmes, including in Thailand, that use Muaythai as a vehicle for youth empowerment, cultural exchange and healthy living.
- Our recognition that the sport’s growth must honour its origins, and that we carry forward the values of discipline, respect and cultural appreciation.
We mourn the departure of a truly remarkable lady, and we celebrate a life dedicated to uplifting others. May Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother rest in peace, and may her memory be a guiding light for us all.
