The WMC got a chance to catch up with Mexican fighter Laura Burgos this week ahead of her WMC National title on Saturday against opponent Grisel Garcia. Here is what she had to say:
Can you introduce yourself?
I’m a Mexican fighter, proud of the heritage and history of my country. I truly believe we have a special heart for combat sports in Mexico.

When did you get into muaythai?
I got into muaythai more than 15 years ago and have been hooked ever since.
What has been your best achievement to date?
Winning the Reality TV Show and Title of The Challenger Battleground against top fighters like Natalie Morgan, Tierra Brandt and Jazzy Parr. My Gold Medal at the IFMA Championships 2024 and Silver Medal at the World Combat Games in 2023 as well as my Silver Medal at World Games 2022.

What will winning the WMC national title mean to you?
It will represent the beginning of another adventure, this time with WMC, a really important title for me that I would love to conquer at international levels too.
How are you feeling ahead of the fight? Any gameplan?
I’m feeling strong and excited to finally fight for this belt in Mexico. My gameplan as always is to make a very technical and intelligent fight.

What is next after this title?
I am going to Paris to participate in the IFMA muaythai demonstration at the Olympics!

Any shout-outs you would like to give?
I would like to include the name of my head coach, Ernesto Quiroga who is also my husband and the key part of all of my fights and career. We are a great team and I’m so grateful for this dedication and true talent in muaythai and combat sports.
