
The beautiful island of Mauritius witnessed a historic night for African Muaythai on October 17th, 2025, as the World Muaythai Council (WMC) and the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) proudly sanctioned another world-class event that drew a full house and electric atmosphere.

The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Richard Papie, President of the Olympic Committee of Mauritius, and Mr Anjeet Oree, representative of the Ministry of Sports, underlining the growing recognition of Muaythai as a respected sport on the continent.

Supervised by Jens Wilke, who traveled from Germany on behalf of the WMC and IFMA, the evening delivered action-packed bouts and marked an important milestone for the development of Muaythai in Africa.


New African Champions Crowned
🥊 WMC African MAD Title Champion (Female –57KG)
Sonja Ndapandula (Namibia) defeated Gaelle Sangahopou (Mauritius) by unanimous decision, claiming the prestigious MAD title in the featherweight division.
🥊 WMC African Champion (Female –60KG)
Vernee Prinsloo (South Africa) emerged victorious against Olga Rasoanirina (Madagascar), winning by unanimous decision to secure the African lightweight title.
🥊 WMC African Champion (Male –53.5KG)
In the bantamweight division, Lebo Ramakoae (South Africa) showcased outstanding skill and composure, earning a unanimous decision victory over Wen Henri (Mauritius) to become the new African Champion.
🥊 WMC African MAD Title Champion (Male –60KG)
Jordan Venpin (Mauritius) triumphed over Jerry Edino Jaotombo (Madagascar) via TKO (Doctor’s stoppage due to cut) following a protest, capturing the MAD lightweight title and giving home fans a victory to celebrate.

A Milestone for Muaythai Africa
This successful event marked another major step forward for Muaythai in Africa, demonstrating the continent’s growing strength and unity under the WMC banner. The next event is already in the pipeline, promising even greater opportunities for African athletes to shine on the international stage.
