On February the 22nd the St Valentines Massacre took place in the beautiful city of Cambridge in Ontario, Canada with an evening of elite level muaythai. The event was sanctioned by the WMC and Muaythai Canada, IFMA’s sole recognised IFMA Federation in Canada. Recent amendments to the combat sport policy in the province has opened the door for Cambridge to host muaythai events and this promises to be the first of many which saw a full house in the Tapestry Hall.

The card was maxed out with some of Canada’s best and included 2 WMC Northern American titles as part of the main card. the first bout saw Canada’s Santiago Reyes face Pedro Marroquin of Mexico with Santiago winning by unanimous decision.
The second fight saw Canada’s Ramsi Khatib face Ricardo Torres of Mexico with Ramsi winning by unanimous decision.

The event was promoted by Chris Kew as part of the 25 years of muaythai event.
Chris Kew, the KRU Yai or headmaster for Mas Academy, stated that the muaythai following in Cambridge continues to grow, making the city an ideal location to host an event.
“We’ve had some success with outdoor shows and we have a strong fan base here,” Kew said.
“The last couple shows we’ve done at the Portuguese Hall since COVID, we can’t fit the capacity.”
By putting on its biggest event yet, he’s hopeful that the sport will continue to grow and reach new audiences.
Having been involved in mixed martial arts his entire life, including a stop in Thailand, Kew wants residents to understand how important it is to bring an event like this to the city.
