The WMC Australian Middleweight Title was contested in Brisbane on Saturday night at Ignite the Fight Promotions between current WMC QLD Champion Tristan Mcmanus and NSW gun Cody Trae.

After a feeling out first round by both boys the intensity started to heat up in the second round with Cody starting to find his shots and Tristan picking up the pace. Rounds 3 and 4 were high pace and high intensity with Cody opening up a few cuts with some slicing elbows. An extremely tense finish to round 4 set the tone for the 5th and final round and neither fighter was taking their foot off the gas until the final bell.

After 5 fun and exciting rounds the decision went to Cody Trae Jameson – now the NEW WMC Australian Middleweight Champion!

The WMC caught up with Cody to grab his thoughts on the fight and he stated the following:

“The fight was really fun, it was an emotionally fuelled fight with Tristan and I both pushing each other from bell to bell, making each other really work for the win. All respect to Tristan and his team, I’m sure we will fight again in the future.”

“I feel like I’ve redeemed myself a lot with this fight, fighting for the WMC Aussie title for the 2nd time and also having fought Tristan’s trainer so this fight was a personal one for me. I’m happy with my performance and can’t wait to defend my #1 spot”.

Congratulations to Cody on a smart and slick performance and becoming the newest WMC Aus Champ – well earned. Enjoy 🏆
