Gent Thainight took place on Saturday the 1st of October, a muaythai gala organised by the Belgian IFMA Federation of Muaythai, BKBMO and sanctioned by the WMC and IFMA. The event was a great success and took place in the city and municipality of Gent in the Flemish region of Belgium. The main bout was a collaboration between the Italian Federation and the Belgium Federation who put together a European title bout for the vacant WMC Superbantam Weight title.
Local boy Gianny De Leu and Giuseppe Gesuito from Italy went head to head for the vacant Superbantamweight WMC European title at 55,33 KG which was the most anticipated fight of the card. Both fighters came out strong with Gianny winning the first couple of rounds but Giuseppe was unable to come out for the third as he succumbed to injury so the referee declared Gianny the new champion.
The belt was given out by a representant of the Belgian Olympic Committee, Mr. Patricj Van Campenhout.
