Female Muaythai is becoming stronger and stronger at the Muaythai Angels event with 16 girls from 14 countries has been one of the most talked about sporting events.

The first stage of the event has just been held in Bangkok at the Bangkok Convention Hall which was filled to the last seat. Two hours live coverage with great entertainment. The opening fight was between Thailand’s Dunnapa and New Zealand’s Wendy. This fight had the crowd on its feet, a very close fight with Thailand taking the decision with a two point advantage in the second round.

IFMA world champion Joanna from Poland took Luxembourg’s Sandra. This fight proved that the smallest countries really have developed in Muaythai as this fight went down to the wire with the IFMA world champion taking a very close point decision and Luxembourg left as the winner with the respect of a standing ovation.

 

Italy’s champion Sindy fought Russian Asya, which is hosting the SportAccord Combat Games. Another world-class fight with a very close decision going to Italy.

 

In an all-Asian match, Chommanee from Thailand took on Zoie Tang from China. An entertaining match with even two rounds and in the third round with the support of the home crowd Chommanee took the decision.

 

The next match was Korea’s Su against Iman from Morocco, easily one of the highlight matches of the day. Both athletes went toe to toe for the entire match duration with Morocco just winning the edge in the third round but Korea also leaving the centre stage with a ovation.

 

Sweden’s Teresa took on Spain’s champion Jessica, another great match with Sweden taking the decision.

 

Belarusian champion, Ilona took on Laurene from France which showed puncher versus grappler. France won the fight with skilful knees and technique.

 

The final fight of the evening saw Romania’s champion Ilinca take on England Zahrah with Romania advancing to the next round.

No one was a loser that night, it was a great performance for female Muaythai. The quarter final, held November 7 will see 2 girls from Thailand, Poland, Italy, Morocco, Sweden, France and Romania deciding who will make it to the semi finals. The stage is set and eagerly awaiting.
