May the 4th is the date for the upcoming Nak Muay 8 event which will be held in the picturesque town of El Vendrell, Spain. This will be the 5th in the series and will be held at the Angel Guimera Pavilion. The event will feature an all female line up in support of the ‘Break the Silence’ campaign which aims to tackle the issue of violence against women and domestic abuse.
The event which is sanctioned by the WMC and supported by IFMA and UTS has a solid undercard as well as an 8 women tournament alongside the main fight of the evening between Sarai Medina from Spain and Jessica Petterson from Sweden.
Promoter Gustavo Luna stated that female muaythai continues to flourish in Spain to the point where all-female events are equally important as their male counterparts. Using the power of sport to tackle social issues such as domestic violence and gender abuse is paramount to our long term goals in the Spanish Muaythai Fedration and we will continue to make a difference not only in the sport but in the real world.
