As the dust settles in the Palaoreto venue in Palermo, Italy from this weekend’s gala, the WMC newly crowned Italian champion Martina Mazzola is still smiling from ear to ear. Martina went head to head with fellow Italian Daniela Melluccio emerging the victor with a points decision after an intense battle.

The fight took place as part of a muaythai gala entitled The Shock which was sanctioned by the WMC and Federkombat, the sole recognised IFMA Federation in Italy. Also on the card was Italian fighter Domenico Caravello who defeated Japan’s Mike Joe with a round-one finish.

The WMC got a chance to catch up with the new champ Martina this week who had the following to say:

“She is a super strong opponent, I already fought her a year ago and lost the match so it was a very important obstacle for me to overcome and avenge my loss”. “This has been my most important goal to date as I proved to myself that I am capable of learning from my mistakes”. “Daniella has been my greatest life lesson so far”.

“With this victory, I now hope to compete for the European title moving forward and may see Daniela further down the line for a trilogy fight”.

The WMC congratulates Martina on her epic win and thanks Daniela for an incredible and classy performance.
