Europe’s premiere promoter, in conjunction with the WMC and the Swedish Muaythai Federation, sanctioned the first leg of the $300,000 Glory event. Globen Arena was packed to the gills, with many celebrities sitting ringside.
The first round saw the best of the best matched against one another: K-Max WMC Champion and WMC Top-ten ranked Giorgio Petrosyan took on Thai Fight winner Fabio Pinca, and Giorgio showed his world class skill, winning in a unanimous decision. Contender Asia semi-finalist, Dzhabar Askerov, fought one of the hottest new fighters, Robin van Roosmalen, and this fight was a war of the toughest, with Robin taking a point decision. Thai Superstar Kem Sitsongpeenong fought Davit Kiria, and this fight proved again that Muaythai is truly growing internationally, with Davit Kiria upsetting Thailand with a point decision. Dutch superstar Albert Kraus met Mohamed El Mir, and Kraus again proved to be one of the strongest, winning in a point decision.
The Super Fights were nothing less than spectacular, with Nieky Holzken beating Alex Harris, Gokhan Saki stopping Carter Williams, and in the main fight, K1 superstar Semmy Schilt stopping Errol Zimmerman in his tracks.
Congratulations must go to the Glory World Series, Rumble of the Kings, the official WMC promoter, and the Swedish Muaythai Federation, the sole body for Muaythai in Sweden, for sanctioning this world class event.
