Inception marked a powerful and inspiring start to the year for grassroots Muaythai in Western Australia.
Officially sanctioned by the WMC in partnership with Muaythai Australia, the sole IFMA-recognised federation in the country, the event showcased the importance of structured, internationally aligned development pathways for emerging athletes. Held on 21 February at Pursuit Muay Thai in Bibra Lake, the promotion delivered a full day of grassroots competition, reinforcing the strength and depth of the sport at entry and development levels.

The card featured a series of well-matched grassroots bouts across multiple weight divisions, providing young athletes with the invaluable opportunity to gain ring experience under proper sanctioning. For 28 debutants, this event marked their very first step into competition, a milestone moment and the beginning of what the WMC hopes will be long and successful journeys in Muaythai.
A particularly proud moment for the sport in Western Australia came in the final bout of the day, an all-female contest officiated by a female referee and three female judges, a significant first for Empire Fight Series and potentially for WA Muaythai. It was a strong statement of inclusivity, progress, and the continued growth of female participation at every level of the sport.

Special recognition was awarded to D-Class athlete Remy Dufty, recipient of the Alan Pond Fighter Award, while Control Muay Thai delivered an impressive five victories from five bouts. The commitment shown by travelling teams such as Valhalla MMA Geraldton and Lovett Muay Thai Albany further demonstrated the unity and dedication within the Australian Muaythai community.
For the WMC, events like Empire Fight Series: Inception represent the true foundation of the sport. Grassroots competition is where discipline is forged, character is built, and future champions begin their path. With strong collaboration, professional standards, and passionate local support, Muaythai in Western Australia continues to grow from the ground up, exactly as it should.
