The city of Leobon, Austria made history this weekend when Austrian Muaythai champion Nina Scheucher competed against Raffaella Di Biasi from Germany for the WMC European title. Both fighters need no introduction and have competed in multiple high-level events such as the IFMA World Championships, World Games, and European Championships.

This was a much-anticipated fight between two athletes who left no stone unturned in their training. Muaythai which is fully recognised in Austria has come on and leaps on bounds over the last few years especially in their gender equality campaign.

Many VIPS came to the event and both fighters showed all 8 weapons in their quest for victory and once again demonstrated why in events like the European Games or the World Games, muaythai has reached full gender equality.

After 5 hard-fought rounds, the international referee from Finland, Katarina Perkkiö raised Nina’s hand for this important win also for Austria in the build-up for the European Games 2023. This event was much more than just a European title fight it was also a direct qualifier for the 2022 World Games in Birmingham.

Nina has been fighting for many years in IFMA Contests and is well-known in the Muaythai family. Nina’s heart beats for Muaythai and she is very much looking forward to the World Championships in December in Phuket, Thailand.

Congratulations to Nina for not only winning the European title but also for booking her place in the World Games, Birmingham.
